That's Me!! N5FYI
Hello Friends! It has been a long time since I have messed with my own web page. For those of you that have continued to keep me 'linked' to your page, I apologize for my lack of interest in updating this thing.

I am still in the printing industry, but last year some changes occurred that 'helped' me lose interest in doing things with this page. I moved to the graphics department after one of my co-workers decided to semi-retire (Thanks Chuck!). Dealing with the graphics department all day long at work led to me NOT wanting to do much on my computer when I get home ;-)

Anyway, things are going OK on this end. I still at times build web pages for other folks when requested to do so.

I use the editor that comes with Netscape 4.75 mostly now days as I find it pretty easy to position things and keep the html 'politically correct'.  But, even with the editor being as easy to use as it is, I still go back and use Notepad for final tweaks on each web page I deal with. Notepad was my FIRST editor that I used on a regular basis.

Here are some of the web pages I have been involved with. I only do "Basic" web pages. I have never really been interested enough in messing with Java script much. I have an older computer system and Java really can bog it down in a hurry. Since I know there are 'others' on the net that also are still trying to get by with dinosaur machines, I sympathize and stick with the basics.

First there was Chuck and Kathy Roper.

Chuck is my ex-coworker that dumped the graphics department on me ;-)

They own two pizza restaurants in the local area. One is located in Lorena, Texas and the other is located in Robinson, Texas.

They are in the process of changing the name of their Lorena, Texas restaurant from DS' Speedy Pizza, to Pizza House as their Robinson, Texas restaurant is called Pizza House.

I originally built the web page for Chuck and Kathy, but they have since taken over and make their own adjustments and changes to their liking.

Next was my 'pet' project. I was asked by a friend named Jack Gustafson (who recently passed away) if I would be interested in doing something for his Masonic Lodge. At the time, Jack was working at the Lee Lockwood Library and Museum located here in Waco, Texas. Since that building has always been an interest to me, I thought this would really be a neat project to undertake. At the time, Jack was Worshipful Master of the J.H. Gurley Lodge that would meet in the Museum. So, I really put some hours into trying to make this page as good as possible and accurate for all Masonic purposes. Though I myself am not a Mason, I found this a very learning experience. So, enjoy the web page and make sure you take the tour of the Lee Lockwood Library and Museum. All the pictures were taken by Jack with a Sony Mavica camera.

Another project came around not too long afterward. My employer has a wife who owns a business that deals with "commercial" Christmas decorations. She supplies several cities around this area with all of their lighting and decorations for their court houses and city squares. This also turned out to be a somewhat interesting project as I wanted to make this a viewable catalog of her products. Located in Crawford, Texas, her web site has become a popular 'hit' as curious web surfers try to find out more and more about President Bushs' adopted home town.

Another Crawford, Texas web site I have JUST ADDED to my collection is for the location Crawford Fina Station. They are a popular stopping point in Crawford for breakfast and lunch. President Bush has even made a visit or so there. They sell T-shirts, mugs, dominoes, and other 'presidential' items as souvineers from the President's home town of his Texas Ranch.

I ended up doing a 'quickie' web page for a friend Jim Hilton who owns Bear Imprints, Inc. here in Waco. He took the time to buy a domain name and then never took the time to put up a web page. So, I threw one together for him until he decides exactly what he wants to do with the web site. He supplies Crawford Fina and other Crawford businesses with their printing needs as well as numerous other Waco, Texas area companies. If you are from the Waco area, give him a call, I am sure you will find him to be very competitive in printing prices.

As most of you know, N5FYI is an Amateur Radio call sign. I have been a ham operator since the very young age of 15 years old. I hold an Extra Class license. Though my radio activity has been very limited over the past few years, I still do own some equipment and get the bug to talk to some of my old friends. I credit the ham radio mode of 'packet' radio in teaching me EVERYTHING I know concerning computers. I bought an old Compaq 286 at a ham fest in Belton, Texas and had to learn DOS to get my packet radio program to work. From there my interest grew and grew in computers. Of course not long after getting that Compaq, I ended up getting another, then another then even another computer ;-)  Internet followed afterwards and I have had several enjoying hours surfing the web and chatting with family and friends.

Here are several links to my Ham Radio friends and resources. I hope that you find some of them useful!
